Crossing Festival

From 12:00AM to 12:00AM

Glendale Crossing Festival270 401-8848 Mike Bell The Glendale Crossing Festival Committee has announced the Grand Marshals for the October 16th parade. This year the festival is recognizing the contribution to the community of the Glendale School systems. In 1868, John Jenkins gave land for the Methodist, Christian Churches, and a one room school located at the present site of the Glendale Christian Church. In 1910, the Glendale Independent School District was formed and purchased the property where the present East Hardin School now stands for $350.00 from Dr. and Mrs. Ashlock. The district levied a $1.00 tax on all living in the school district and all students were charged a tuition. A building was erected and burned causing a second building to be constructed in 1912. The Glendale District was maintained until 1934, when it merged into the County System with J. M. F. Hays continuing as principal. In 1962, Hardin County consolidated and named the site East Hardin. East Hardin will be moved to a new location on New Glendale road in the near future. The Crossing Festival committee and the community of Glendale want to remember a century plus of adding and improving the community with an excellent educational system. To show our support and appreciation we have requested all former and present principals to serve as Grand Marshals of the parade : Don Cothren, Bill Reynolds, Don McKinney, Dan Lockwood, and Brittany Nickell. The Crossing parade will line-up at the East Hardin Football field at 9 a. m. on October 16th and is open to your participation.
